Summary Overview: CYS523 was redesigned using content provided by the SME to develop a more interactive, learner-center course through experiential design. I took various media elements (Storybook, knowledge checks, Infographics, and more) and redesigned text heavy areas into more concise readings. A new lab tool was also needed, which in turn required new content for the Labs. I checked course alignment in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team by addressing the curriculum map in regards to the course level outcomes and module level outcomes. Some course materials were updated due to being outdated.

Client: NEG
Collaborators: Melissa Cowan & SME
Summary Overview: This Canvas course was created for the English department at Mount Aloysius College as an elective course and was used asynchronously along side several reading materials, videos, discussions, formative and summative assessments. I created this while honing my skills as an eLearning developer and instructional designer and also taught the course during a 5-week winter session. This is one of several courses created. The screenshots below show a basic view of the course and a much more in-depth view can be given, however with the limited time with this design we did not create interactive items.
Solution: While the college was limited in integrated technology for Canvas, I was able to integrate short instructional videos, infographics, supplemental materials, rubrics, YouTube videos, discussions (among other summative assessments), formative assessments, and novels/short readings, movies and Television shows to engage the learner. Learners were highly motivated by the content and therefore engagement was high within the course.
